Since the beginning of mankind most of the people had the tendency to form groups, clans, tribes and nations. We lived in the same territory and protected it from the invaders. During our history some tribes migrated with their entire population to find a better place to live, but now we live in the modern times and something is different...
Now we can travel fast everywhere and we don't always move with our entire family, friends, clan or nation. We have family members and friends all over the world but what hasn't changed is what we feel about them. We feel like they are members of the same group no matter the distance that separate us. The tribes still exist under a modern form.
The Modern Tribe Project
The goal of this project is to create a virtual modern tribe using the tools provided on the internet: Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, Google and others. You have your personal friends on a social networking website and they have also their friends linked with their account. And the friend have more friends and so on, but you don't know them directly. Now imagine that you want to solve a problem and a friend of a friend of a friend can help you. Or maybe a stranger can do it but you don't know about them. With the The Modern Tribe Project all these people can be the members of the virtual tribe and help each other.
How it works?
We'll use this blog to post interesting and useful articles for anyone, Facebook to talk with the tribe members, Twitter for the urgent news and something very important, the Google custom map from the Territory page of this blog to mark places recommended by the tribe members.
Example: you intend to travel in another country on vacation. You can choose any hotel, restaurant or store while you are there. There are so many in any touristic town. If you go on the tribe territory map and visit the town where you want to go, maybe you'll find something recommended by another member. If he have/work in a restaurant you can help the member of your tribe when you chose that restaurant from many others.
Or you just become member of our modern virtual tribe and look at your town on the map. What if you find than it's another member in your town and he discovered a new pub/club/spa/whatever for you to try?
Many people have a lot of information but you don't have access to it because the social websites show you only your direct friends. With the Modern Tribe Project you have more possibilities to make friends and find something interesting.
